Welcome to Taste of the Parsha. This is a blog where we try to come up with unusual and interesting ways to enhance your regular Shabbat Menu based on ideas from the weekly Parsha. Click on the Parsha at the side to get a few points from the Parsha and a few menu or recipe ideas. We started just talking about these ideas, and lots of people seemed to find them interesting, so now we are sharing them with you.
Have fun!
Important Note on Sources
Let me just add that while I do enjoy reading Torah articles and listening to shiurim, I am not a Torah teacher or anything, just a mum who is trying to come up with ways to keep my kids engaged and interested. Most of the material here comes from the book The Midrash Says, or the MP3 files Chumash and Rashi Explained by Rabbi Rosenberg. I also often do quick web searches to lead me to original materials, using reputable sites such as Mi Yodeya?; Aish HaTorah; Chabad.org; Yeshiva.co among others.
I am aware that there are a couple of other people out there who have had similar ideas to me to write about food and the parsha together but I think that this blog’s “take” on it all is a bit different.
Please feel free to add your comments or actual recipes that you know work well in the comments section.
I really like this a lot. Can’t wait to eat tongue
It is interesting to see connections from food to the parsha!!
This is a great blog ! It is very interesting to see the relation between Torah study and culinary study.
It is legendary to see how good looking food can be connected to the Parsha! Maybe I will serve gummy worms in my meals on Shabbat this week! #ILoveTheIdeasOfTheFoodInParshatNoach
